Home Green Home was launched in 2009 with the help of WAGES (Women’s action to gain economic security). Since those days, we’ve faced a lot of challenges as a small immigrant women-owned business, but now, we are thrilled to share that we’ve also learned so much!

Here you can find a little timeline we created to show the growth and evolution of our business through the years:

• 2008: WAGES (now Prospera) recruited the founder members of Home Green Home (also called HGH). Today there’s only one founder member in our co-op.
• 2009: There was a rough start and not so many clients. WAGES did an intensive marketing campaign to attract potential clients to stay for a regular cleaning service.
• 2010: After two years of financial loss, the co-op starts gaining more clients. Some of the founder members leave the co-op and new members are recruited between 2010 and 2011.
• 2012: The co-op members decide to let go of their driver and start taking their own cars to drive themselves to their client’s house. This was both a financial benefit as well as an empowerment movement.
• 2014: Home Green Home becomes fully independent from Prospera.
• 2016: Home Green Home has a great year in sales, we got more customers and as a result of this, we achieve more benefits for all of the members. HGH becomes a member of the United States Federation of Worker Cooperatives.
• 2017: As a result of our membership with the US Federation, we were able to provide dental and vision insurance for our members.
• 2018: New members join the co-op, bringing new opportunities to grow and take new clients. HGH updated its Operating Agreement which is the contract between the members to reflect all the learnings and the experience gained since 2014.
• 2019: HGH’s website was updated after many years to reflect on the new policies and how we currently operate.

Home Green Home is happy to announce that we had our first retreat ever!
We are super excited to share this achievement with our clients. We truly believe that a company retreat, can regroup and rediscover our passion for our work. And this is what really happened to us!
We arrived at 8:30 am at Golden Gate Park with a full agenda of workshops, fun, and learning. First, we started with an ice breaker where we had to share a difficult moment for our partner just to look for the positive even when we think everything is turning dark in our lives.
We had the opportunity to hear the history of our own co-op from one of the founders of it!! She let us know how they had to struggle to get new clients back in 2009. It hasn’t been easy, but she is now part of one of our more solids and high demand cleaning teams 😉

We also had a wellness session with our friend Mayerling Castillo. She’s an amazing personal trainer serving the Bay Area and she taught us how to de-stress through exercise and yoga.

We finished with a session full of work in order to adjust and better define what makes us keep going. We took this opportunity to adjust our mission, trying to transform our vision to reality and reaffirm the values that direct our daily work.

We finished about 4:00 pm with lower stress levels, but higher happiness and confidence levels ready for tomorrow’s work. This retreat, made us have the energy to work hard to keep the quality cleaning standards you are used to, even higher!
